Cammy had the "maintenance day" (or whatever it is) the other day. Man almighty has it been painful watching him lately. I appreciate the assists but that not why we got him back. As for Irving, this is career time for him... if he falters, i'd say it may be close to kissing his NHL career goodbye...

I wonder if it might not be a wrist or shoulder injury. He seems reluctant to shoot out there... he's not even moving into shooting positions.

But it seems more than shooting... He's just out of step. Its like watching Ryan Smyth... Maybe the loss of his front teeth affected his aerodynamics or something...

My buddy & I were doing some number crunching & Kipper being day to day ala MCL strain probably equates for a goalie to being out for 2 weeks approx. You realize that from tonight thru to Feb 24th(just over 2 weeks) we play 10 games. Tha represents just under a quarter of the season meaning it is the equivalent of a 6-8 week injury of missed games in a regular season. That means holy crap, the month of February is critical & the performance of 2 untested goalies holds the fate of our playoffs this year. Was reading the math on another site where Washington who 1 point less than us but played 10 games. The magic number seems to be 50-51 points will sneak you into the playoffs. That would men Washington would have to win 60% of their games to get to that magic playoff bubble number. Put a fork in them. That potentially could be us at the end of Feb. We may play great & lose games 5-4 or 4-3 because we just didnt quite get that save Kipper used to give us.
It almost seems like destiny, Kipper never gets injured & now he does right as we are at the crossroads for this franchise where so many huge decisions have to be made. Sure makes you wonder........

Irv seems like a great kid, kinda got messed up in the AHL, just had a baby a year ago, I sure hope he steps up and doesnt let Taylor get a game for awhile because he is playing so good.

I think he'll be fine. As long as we keep playing the way we are it doesn't hurt us too much. Now if we start losing games 2-1/3-2 and he still isn't scoring then it might be time to worry. Like most have said our record today isn't indicative of our play. ANd one thing we know is Cammy is pretty good in the playoffs.

There is no way 50-51 points makes the playoffs.....it's gonna be more like 60. That being said, your argument has a lot of assumptions in it...Kipper could be kickin' by Saturday, who knows.

Colin: I like your observation of the Irving/Taylor combo. Their familiarity with each other might help out quite a bit I think.

Like I said, this is really his big opportunity to show what he is. Even if its 2 games, he needs to prove he is capable. We all assume Ramo is touted for Kippers #1 spot and if Irving wants to be in the mix in any way, NOW is the time. Having too many goalies is not a bad thing(unless of course you're in Vancouver)

Personally I would've voted for Whipper as Flames ref, would really gave him a boost in life.

I agree. This is make or break for Irv. If he doesnt wow & Taylor shows better, I think Irv is sent back to Abbotts. & Taylor remainsup here as the backup for Kipper. Thing is, the stage is his & now its up to him. The team is actually playing pretty good so no excuses.
